Under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, each State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is charged with developing, and revising as needed, a statewide historic preservation plan. Completed in 2007 Georgia's State Historic Preservation Plan 2007-2011: Building a Preservation Ethic will guide our work through 2011, and provides common direction for all organizations and individuals who support the preservation of Georgias historic places.
The Plan includes information about trends in Georgia and how
they may affect historic properties; mission, vision and goals for
historic preservation; information about Georgias historic and
archaeological resources, information about how preservation works
in Georgia, and about the statewide preservation planning
process. We encourage you to take a look at the Plan and
assist us in the mission of promoting the preservation and use of
historic places for a better Georgia.
