During the 1994 Legislative Session, the Georgia General
Assembly initiated appropriations for grant funding for the
preservation of historic properties in Georgia. Since that time,
the Georgia Heritage Grant Program, administered through the
Historic Preservation Division (HPD), has provided seed money for
the preservation of historic properties and archaeological sites
throughout the state. The Program offers matching funds on a
statewide competitive basis to local governments and nonprofit
organizations for the preservation of Georgia Register-eligible
historic properties.

Applications for the SFY 2011 Georgia Heritage grants are
now available below. Applications must be postmarked by July
13, 2010.
If you would like to receive a paper application in the mail,
please contact Carole Moore, grants coordinator, at carole.moore@dnr.state.ga.us
or 404-463-8434.
Currently, this grant program is funded solely from
preservation license plate sales revenue. Thus far, over 4,000
plates have been purchased throughout Georgia. It appears
likely that approximately $45,000-$50,000 should be available for
the 2011 cycle. Therefore, it is estimated that only two to
four of the top-scoring projects will be funded.
