The Historic Preservation Division's (HPD) African American programs coordinator provides technical assistance to anyone interested in preserving Georgia's African American historic resources.

The programs coordinator also provides staff support to the Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network (GAAHPN) volunteer Steering Committee and produces their quarterly publication Reflections. GAAHPN's goals are to increase awareness of African American heritage and to encourage the preservation of historic resources associated with black history.

Springfield is a free African American community in Augusta, Georgia established around the time of the Revolutionary War.  This Web site offers information about the history and archaeology of Springfield and includes a lesson plan for teachers. The creation of this website was funded by the City of Augusta and supported by the Georgia Department of Transportation as an element of the archaeological and historical studies undertaken for the St. Sebastian Street project. http://africanamericanspringfield.org/
